I first fell in love with Valencia Robinson's voice about three to four years ago when I came across the song "Bye Bye Angel" featured on a now defunct soul blog. The simple acoustic arrangement and Valencia's powerful, sometimes raw vocals had me instantly hooked, and I set out to discover more of her music. After some searching and asking a few favors, I managed to get hold of her Soul Searchin EP (which has since been re-released as a nine-track LP) and it has remained a firm favorite ever since. I thought that maybe Valencia had given up on the music biz, however this she put a new single up on her Bandcamp page as a free download. "Girl Like Me (What You Know)" is a solid soul groove produced by Raynier "L-Blayze" Hodnett. Hopefully this signals a return to the scene for Ms. Robinson.
