Trombone Shorty Comes Back For His 'Encore'
If you've been keeping up with SoulBounce lately, you'll know that I recently put you on to Trombone Shorty and his soon-to-be-released album For True. Now I have for you guys a little taste of what For True is going to sound like. For his first single from the project, Shorty has decided to release the "Encore." The song is just as heavy on the guitar as it is on his signature horn sound, meeting at the cross-section between blues, rock, funk, and jazz. Songwriting legend Lamont Dozier helped write this and it shows, especially with guest Warren Haynes helping on guitar. There's a soulful grit to it as Shorty begs for another chance with the one he love that just rings so true here that would've been just as at home in the '60s or '70s as it is now. In addition to releasing his new single, Shorty is launching a "10,000 Like Campaign" via his Facebook page. In his quest to get to that magic number, he'll let lucky fans get opportunities to earn points for merchandise, MP3 downloads, signed CDs, and even video chats. So listen to the track below and then head over to Facebook and press that "like" button.
