Anais Aida Gets Comfortable In Rihanna's 'Skin'

Here at SoulBounce, we've already sang the praises of Anais Aida's previous covers of Anthony David's "As Above So Below" and Janelle Monáe's "Say You'll Go." Now she returns with a cover of Rihanna's "Skin." Before I give you my opinion on this one, I must admit that I'm biased here. I tend to avoid anything that the Caribbean Queen (sorry Billy Ocean) has put out and have managed to steer clear of most of her bleating songs -- though "Rude Boy" did get stuck in my head for a good minute for part of 2010 -- therefore I'd never heard "Skin" until I listened to it for reference after hearing Anais' cover. That being said, Anais does so much more for this song that was nothing more than a pop trifle. She smartly incorporates a bit of the jazz standard "I'm in the Mood for Love" before launching into an a cappella interpretation of the raunchy come-on of a song. By the time the instruments do kick in, you're already all in. She does sexy the way that it should be done and doesn't try so damn hard like most of her contemporaries, making a song about sex feel less produced and more...intimate (what a novel concept). Press play below to hear Anais' "Skin" to get a feel for what I'm talking about, and if you are in fact feeling it, then bounce on over to her Facebook BandPage for a free download.
