Missy Elliott Goes 'Behind The Music' With VH1

It's been six long years since we have heard anything from Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott. There has been talk of a new album, a single leaked here and there, but the elusive Block Party never saw the light of day. In the most recent episode of VH1's Behind The Music Missy assured her fans that she is currently putting the finishing touches to the new album alongside friend and regular collaborator Timbaland. As well as news on a new album, Missy talks about her abusive childhood, her early years in the industry as part of DeVante Swing's Swing Mob label (alongside Ginuwine, Tweet, Magoo, and Timbaland), her friendship with Aaliyah, her rise to fame as a solo artist and in-demand producer (she recalls getting calls from Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson in the same month), and the health struggles which she has been combating over the last few years. With input from Timbaland, Ciara, and Mary J. Blige amongst others, Behind The Music gives us a glimpse into the world of arguably the biggest female in hip-hop.
