Beverley Knight Pays Homage To 'Soul' Music From The 'UK'

Last month we gave you a glimpse of what to expect when UK soul diva Beverley Knight releases her new album, Soul UK. Her cover of Soul II Soul's "Fairplay" went toe-to-toe with the original so I was eager to see if the rest of the project was as good. Right on time, Bev's people have released some footage from the concert DVD that will accompany the studio album, and I've gotta say -- live at least -- this sounds great. You get to hear her take on Heatwave's "Always And Forever," a live version of "Fairplay," a storming performance of George Michael's "One More Try," and finally Junior Giscombe's "Mama Used To Say." Commentary from Rod Temperton, Jazzie B, and Junior add to the appeal of this live DVD. After the slight disappointment that was her last album, I'm really looking forward to this project, and I suspect after you watch this preview, you will, too.
