Bounce-Worthy: The Broken Orchestra

The Broken Orchestra are a collective of creative individuals from musicians, singers, and emcees to graphic designers and artists, headed up by producers Pat D and Carl Conway Davies. Pat and Carl, based in North East England with backgrounds in hip-hop production, formed The Broken Orchestra as a vehicle to explore their other musical interests, including soul, jazz, and downtempo. Their first single, "Over & Over," caught my attention immediately as it features the sultry vocals of Sweden's Natalie Gardiner. I've been a fan of Natalie's for a few years now and both her self-titled debut and the follow up, California, still get regular spins. Her contribution here is typical of her mellow, laid-back style and the guys do a great job of crafting a simple, yet beautiful backdrop. On the flip-side of the single is the melancholy instrumental "Shibui," which brings to mind rainy autumn days--but in a good way. Check out both tracks below, and if you are feeling them head on over to their Bandcamp page where you can grab a download.
