Magnetic Man & John Legend Are 'Getting Nowhere'

Anybody that knows me knows that I'm not normally a fan of John Legend. Even though I enjoyed the music he released as John Stephens prior to his major label deal, I quickly grew weary of the lounge-singer tone his voice took on. While his talent was undeniable, it all felt too slick, cheesy, and contrived to me. So imagine my surprise when I happened upon the latest video from UK group, Magnetic Man featuring Legend and realized that I actually liked it. Though there's still the slightest hint of that silky-voiced, yodel-thing he normally does, his vocals fit perfectly on the haunting "Getting Nowhere," taken from their self-titled debut. The video is equally as unsettling with the images of faceless, hooded bike riders and a faceless horseman perched atop a black horse riding past images of violence and video-game obsessed kids. An introspective look at the state-of-things today, "Getting Nowhere" is a discomfiting reminder that the world as we know it is teetering on the edge of falling apart.
