In these times of everyone hanging their hats onto any curvy framed woman who can sing with a modicum of talent, it always pains me to know that Aaliyah is gone. Her voice and her ability to titillate without resorting to sleaze tactics or meat dresses is sorely missed. That being said, I came across this rather interesting take on her "If Your Girl Only Knew" by Forest Swords from their album Dagger Paths. Their version is all orchestral strings slowed down to a hypnotic crawl with only the barest elements of the original song audible. It sort of reminds me of one of favorite tracks by Aaliyah, "I Can Be" but much more moody. It's interesting to say the least. See what I mean after you press play below. [H/T: NP]
