There's Nothing 'Average' About Quadron
When I first heard the debut album by a relatively unknown duo from Copenhagen, little did I know how it would change the course of my day. This was about the time of the debut of Rihanna's latest eardrum assault, and I was on the hunt for some good music. Enter Quadron. The self-titled debut from producer Robin Hannibal and sonic shapeshifter Coco is proof that soul knows no racial boundaries. The pair delivers the video for "Average Fruit," a breezy track that is one part lounge music and one part electronic soul that gives a nod to the pair's respective African roots. The video, shot in Los Angeles, comes right in time for their show Thursday, October 28th alongside funk/electronic/anything-you-want duo J*DaVeY and Plug Research label-mate, Bilal at the Echoplex. If you would like to try your hand at remixing "Average Fruit," Quadron's having a contest and the winning entry will find its way onto the upcoming Average Fruit Remix EP. Download the song elements here and submit entries here by November 22nd. Until then, get lost in Quadron's vision.
