As we all prepare for another Bilal album that I suggest we all buy lest he decide Airtight's Revenge to meet the same fate as the splendiforous Love For Sale, let's all take a moment and revisit what makes Bilal such an important voice in soul music. In the video below, Phonte sums it up quite nicely. Not only does Bilal "make R&B for men" but he also makes music "that speaks directly to the Black male experience." Not surprising since Foreign Exchange seems to capture this same male experience on occasion. I do love to be told how nice I look and what you plan on doing to me later, but I also appreciate being told what goes in the minds of the opposite sex. Thanks.
