Will This New Common & Queen Latifah Flick Be 'Just Wright'?

Just this past weekend I was having a conversation with someone about the lack of good urban romantic comedies. No, not the borderline-bootleg, direct-to-DVD dreck that fills your local Blockbuster or Netflix queue, but feature films along the lines of '90s Black movie classics like Boomerang, Love Jones, The Wood, The Best Man or Brown Sugar. Surely Tyler Perry's stranglehold on Black film can be broken and other filmmakers of color can be invited to the table once again. That's another discussion altogether, but it seems as if Hollywood may be coming around once again with the upcoming release of Just Wright starring Queen Latifah, Common, Paula Patton and Pam Grier. Directed by Sanaa Hamri (Something New), Latifah and Lonnie make the transition from rappers to romantic leads as a physical therapist and basketball player, respectively, and we get to see a sneak peek of them in action in the trailer below. My side-eye will reserve judgment on their performances and the plot's plausibility until I see this in theaters come May, but it's just good to know that Madea has absolutely nothing to do with this flick.
