Quiet Bounce

Quiet Bounce: Make A Wish, Baby

Picture it: 1980. A group named Ambrosia release their fourth studio album entitled One Eighty. The four members, all from Los Angeles, grew up idolizing the supergroups of the era, everyone from The Who to Genesis to The Doobie Brothers. And their sound reflected that. It was on this album that one of their greatest hits was born--the love song, "Biggest Part of Me." It immediately had crossover appeal, and did well on both the pop and R&B charts. Here's a sample of the lyrics:

"(Love flows) Gettin' better as we're older / (All I know) All I want to do is hold her/ She's the life that breathes in me/ (Forever) Got a feelin' that forever/ (Together) We are gonna stay together (For better) For me, there's nothin' better/ You're biggest part of me..."
See? Game over. It's lyrics like those that make this song a classic. And a perfect way to end the day. If you're not hip, now's the perfect time to get into it. Yes, there have been remakes, most notably by Take 6 in the 1990s, but seriously, there's nothing like the original. The West Coast boys put their foot in it. Take a listen. Or hell, take 6. Won't matter. I guarantee that if it isn't already, this song will become a bigger part of your music collection. Oh, and you're welcome.

A prime example of timeless music.

Love the original, love the Take 6. Classic and still stands today.

OMG!! Driving down 95 takin' my big sister to Hampton U (Institute) back then. This song always reminds me, because I adored her and was so sad she was leavin' home. This song is the joint. Classic. Thanks for the memories. But it still gets steady play on Lite FM in NYC.

i grew up in sunny southern california listening to am and fm radio stations alike. i remember this song when i was in junior high school, being the romantic that i was (smh) i couldn't wait to grow up and fall in love, and actually believed that a man would feel that way about me, someday! this song reminds me of ocean breezes, sunny days year round, riding the RTD (rapid transit district or getting a ride with richard t davis, as we used to say) oh man, bringing back memories of legwarmers, jellyshoes, and jerricurls...oh dear! good times, no worries....

I listen to truly great music like this and I'm ALWAYS reminded of a time when musical people REALLY wanted to be good at what they did. Took a healthy (and sometimes UN-healthy) pride in their work. Gorgeous vocals, excellent musicianship & a classic song: what else do you need?

I remember this song! I love the smooth sound of this track. Thanks for bringing it back into my playlist.

This is one of those songs I always remember hearing while waiting in my orthadontist office lol. One of those songs I know the words to but never truly even knew who sang it. Thanks for the post, I'm adding it to my 80's slow jams playlist tonight.

Love AMBROSIA! This song is the joint-- seriously one of my all time favs!!! Thanks for posting it! What person doesn't want to believe his/her partner feels this way about them?

One of my all time favs right here........I still cruise to this joint, classic mid summer, top down, chillin' with your lady banger. Damn this takes me back SB......................

Harlem, great write up. I really enjoyed the Take 6 version (what Take 6 song do you not enjoy? I mean really LOL) But you are sooooo right the orginal is better than every remake out there. This is why I'm so hard on the "blue eyed" 'soul of "today". These guys were amazing . And they were not Marvin Gay clones *cough* Robin *cough*, or MJ clones *cough* you know who *cough*

It should say "without"

I am thankful that I grew up in a time when artist perfected their craft with resorting to the oversexed and crude images being currently being touted as entertainment.
Listening to this brought back memories of the gentle summer breezes, walks in the park, and a clean freshness that has all but died.
