Diggin' in the Crates, Month of Mary
Mary J. Blige Is 'Beautiful.' Isn't She, Blackstar?
Mary J. Blige may be the "Queen of Hip Hop Soul," but many would agree that Mary is the undisputed "Queen of The Remix" as well. Take a moment and think about how many tracks Mary has blessed that resulted in that remix being the version that you heard and loved more than the original. Her work with Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah and Method Man immediately come to mind. Given that Mary has been the go-to singer to croon over many a hard Hip Hop track, it was rather interesting to hear her collaboration with Blackstar's Mos Def and Talib Kweli. This time, however, it was they who blessed her track "Beautiful" from her album Mary. Like the title, "Beautiful" is a beautiful representation of what late '90s Hip Hop could be. You remember, right? When the musical landscape was more varied. When Lauryn and D'Angelo were still around. But let's not focus on the fallen. Let's instead focus on tracks such as these that can transport your mind to another place. A beautiful one.

This was not one of her best remixes in my opinion. the chords dont blend properly with her voice at all and it sounds like its missing something. i think that the "reminisce" remix she had or nearly all of them remixes on the 411 remix were better. my 2 cents :P
