First Spin, Reggae Riddims

Rox 'Rocks Steady'

A South Londoner with strong connection to her Jamaican roots, Rox shows us she can "Rock Steady" with the greatest of ease. This single from her upcoming, as-yet-untitled album (scheduled to be released sometime in 2010) has a great classic reggae sound that remains immune from a full case of the retro flu by Rox's fresh vocals. She knows just when to dodge a bit out of the predictable during the song, adding some kick with a contemporary and sultry twang that's unabashedly influenced by a variety of styles. The effect is effortlessly smooth and sexy. [H/T: RTR]

I like it ! big tune

No. Cautious vocal kicks aside, I'm still hearing 1975,
maybe it's an "homage" to those Trojan girls?
We're all over the sixties revival, maybe it's reggae's turn? If there's a musical style long overdue for a reworking, that's it.

hope it's a big hit - time reggae sounds rocked the uk again

I really like this. Very vibrant.

MAJOR UK talent!!

Saw her live couple of weeks back ... can't wait for her debut to drop.
