Amir Junaid Muhadith, formerly Chauncy Hawkins, professionally known as "Loon" or "Mase 2.0", is finally at peace. Since leaving Bad Boy five years ago, he has converted to Islam, as shown in the Al Jazeera TV clip after the bounce. He plans to eventually use his influence as an artist to bring about a more positive message in Hip Hop, despite the fact that any such influence wasn't apparent during his tenure at Bad Boy. Amir is quick to point out that the media frequently uses an artist's conversion as an opportunity to mock Islam or whatever faith in which the artist chooses to immerse himself. After multiple flip-flops by former comrade-turned-sworn enemy Mase, the cynical approach is understandably a necessity at this point. [RR]
QH: "I've never understand why Islam is the only spiritual outlet for hip-hop music. I've always wanted to see a study, finding the bridge between both movements."......Study the history of Black (African) people, then you should understand. Islam is the original religion of our people, not Christianity. Our people were introduced to Christianity by the Europeans when they trespassed on and took over parts of Africa.
I told you Puffy was the Anti-christ.............................If Loon or Amir as he now goes by has found enlightment and peace then I am happy for the brother. Look for Puffy to test his new found beliefs by offering Amir a new record deal:) cuz thats what Puffy does, CANT STOP, WONT STOP, TAKE THAT, TAKE THAT:)
I respect Loon's spiritual journey...but he went all the way with the Islam thing, no? To each his own, I suppose. See what signing to Bad Boy does to people? Lol @ Soulrific "waiting on Pam from Total to become a missionary." I agree with Stephanie that the beard isn't sexy. Loon was a sexy chocolate sumthin...

Can you sensibly and intelligently relay that in meaningful English? I WIth all respect, you come across as very ignorant.
Wish Loon all the best as he continues his spiritual growth, no matter what religion he chooses.

QH | July 6, 2009 12:21 PM | PermalinkThey might as well become missionaries - they've already been done missionary-style by the industry.
The Truth | July 6, 2009 11:43 AM | PermalinkThat's 2 for 2 with Mase and Loon. Leaving Bad Boy makes you find religion. I'm waiting on Pam from Total to become a missionary.
