Soul On Film, Video SoulBounce

Skip The Blockbusters This Summer, See 'Still Bill' Instead

Rarely, if ever, have I watched the trailer for a film and been so thoroughly intrigued, impressed and inspired. If you manage to get through the two minutes and eleven seconds of spliced footage from the forthcoming Bill Withers movie Still Bill without reevaluating your life then, well, do you. The rest of us will be taken by the elusive songwriter who quotes Throreau and said "no thanks" to studio offers of a cookie-cutter R&B contract, preferring to stick with making toilets. He also ended up penning the classics "Lean on Me," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Lovely Day." This isn't a new project and it's been screening at selective festivals for a few months but it deserves more promotion. Hopefully it gets wider distribution soon. [H/T: YYY/NWS

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Bill Withers! Oh, I hope I can see this one day.

I saw a tribute to Bill Withers in Brooklyn last year; people were loving his classic joints as sung by Cory Glover and others. Can't wait to see this doc...

@JustChaz: L O L. Well played.

Would love to see the rest of this.

I like how he paused and thought when Dr. West asked him what he would like his legacy to be. So many people have standard, pat answers ready for this question and what comes out of their mouths has no life or meaning to it.

Reevaluate my life, though?

Nah, I'm good.

But I will try and go see this movie.

He still looks good.
