A Soulful Noise, Releases
Hope You're Not Sick Of Beyoncé Yet
If you're suffering from Beyoncitis--that's the chronic condition of Beyoncé overload--then good luck with that because swine flu aint got nothing on this. The grand dame of Rhythm & Pop will be giving her lovers and haters more fuel in the coming weeks with the upcoming release of the DVD/CD collection Above and Beyoncé on June 16th. The DVD will feature seven music videos of songs from I Am...Sasha Fierce and behind-the-scenes footage. While the CD will be a collection of seven dance remixes of cuts from I Am... and is being described as Bey's "first foray into the world of electronica." Oy. Maybe once this drops and her current world tour ends Beyoncé will go sit down somewhere and take an extended vacation. That may be the only cure for what ails us.

Billie Holiday is still a major seller. Anita is still on regular rotation and Chaka is even on my granmother's newest playlist and Stephanie Mills still croons in my house. Get it people? Beyonce is a money maker and a spectacle. It ends there. She'll be out of our lives forever soon. Her stuff won't live on. It's like Chinese food. As Lady (Billie Holiday) said when asked about a recent arrest for drugs, "In the end it's about the work." Oh for the good old days of Toni Braxton.
grace | May 29, 2009 7:03 PM | PermalinkIs all this really necessary for one great video (single ladies) and good song (diva). Does she really think she's topped B'Day's labor with this lackluster attempt? Who wastes 16 tracks between two discs...and single ladies wasn't even hot UNTIL the video.
lynx765 | May 28, 2009 3:28 AM | PermalinkShe is like the pine needles left in the house after the Christmas tree is long gone. You keep finding them all over the house and after you throw each one away you think it is the last one. But no, a few minutes/days/weeks/months later, you find more...*SIGH* Can Jay impregnate her already? Sheesh. She puts out some of the lamest, unorigina,l irresponsible "music" I have heard in a while. I don't think a single song in her catalog can be considered a classic. Someone please tell make her stop!

A. | May 27, 2009 7:00 PM | PermalinkI love 'Smash into You' and 'Broken-Hearted Girl" as well. I actually prefer the I Am disk.
@All
I doubt she'll take a long break. I shamefully admit, I wouldn't take one either (blame my Type A personality). Yes, she will get her money...
Get money. Get Money. Get money.
Her fans will pay for this "new"-ness. Watch, she'll release a double-extended version of 'this' and then a double-extended version of her videos, re-mastered and re-cut with bonus snippets from Obsession and Obsession 2: Return of the Orange Yaki. LOL.
Madame Zenobia | May 27, 2009 6:18 PM | PermalinkAlmost made me click the back button when I saw her mug. I'm exhausted!
The only good thing about her is that during her mainstage performance at Essence, she'll likely clear the lounge areas where the real SANGIN will be going down.
Vivrant Thang | May 27, 2009 5:22 PM | PermalinkI'ma need Beyonce to pull a Maxwel and live life outta the limelight for a few (seven) years!! K? Thanks
Bree | May 27, 2009 5:07 PM | PermalinkLord Jesus!!! *sigh*
chynadoll | May 27, 2009 4:49 PM | PermalinkAbove and Beyoncé, eh? I see they wasted a whole 2 seconds dreaming up that title.
Soulrific | May 27, 2009 4:44 PM | PermalinkI hate it when ballads are turn into electronica/dance songs..usually..
