Monica May Have Another Hit In This 'Lifetime'
There are some artists who you just wish would go away. Think T-Pain, Soulja Boy. And then there are some artists who you wish would come back to rule the charts once again. Think Lauryn Hill, D'Angelo. And then there are some artists who have never really gone away but you don't see them on the charts anymore either. Like Monica. After her last album wasn't the commercial success that her earlier albums were, last year's news that she was cooking up a new release was met with a shrug after the single "Still Standing" came and disappeared just as quickly. But maybe there's hope for Monica's next album yet. Whereas "Still Standing" was a good song, her new single "One In A Lifetime" is borderline great. This may be the next hit song to return Monica to the top. What do you think?

STAY AWAY FROM B.COX MO........
William | April 4, 2009 2:38 AM | PermalinkThe song is cool for the album but not as the lead single off the album. Maybe a good choice for the third or fourth single.
William(MAJOR MONICA FAN) | April 3, 2009 10:36 PM | PermalinkLove Monica! She puts soul into all her music.
A | March 29, 2009 8:37 PM | PermalinkI prefer sassy Monica when she is spitting venom at a man who did her wrong. Not a bad song but where is the ghettoness?

dar | March 24, 2009 5:56 PM | PermalinkI wanted to like the song more than I actually do =(
Unfortunately, I kinda agree with John Murph
Bree | March 24, 2009 3:34 PM | PermalinkThe new single is nice. Don't know if it's lead single material though.
oldskoolsista | March 24, 2009 2:37 PM | PermalinkFirst let me say, I Love Monica! This single isn't bad at all and may very possibly give her that renewed limelight that she deserves. Although her last album didn't reach the status that so many artists are defined by (record sales), it was all that and then some. Her last album oozed so much attitude and I appreciated her for taking it there. Monica has and always will be on my radar so everyone else needs to catch up.
Rhythmic Soul | March 24, 2009 10:13 AM | PermalinkIt's sounds like every other pop-R&B song that's been shoved down our throats. Do we need another song in which the singer cooes the last word twice in the chorus? -- "I need you back, back" Ugh!
John Murph | March 24, 2009 9:26 AM | Permalinki do like this one...and like someone commented, it does have b.cox written all over it..very be without you-esque. i hope it returns monica to the top.
JNez | March 24, 2009 8:49 AM | PermalinkI don't really like this song. Because what I'm expecting from her these day, it's something more soulfoul, I mean I don't really like the music production.
It's lke the new Brandy, don(t like it.
It's clear that her best album was the first.
Have a good day
Jimmy | March 24, 2009 4:24 AM | PermalinkThanks, Dar! I have my moments. LOL
Butta | March 23, 2009 11:27 PM | PermalinkAs soon as this came on I started singing "I wanna be with you, wanna be with you, wanna be with you..."

Fredric | March 23, 2009 10:05 PM | Permalinkthis has Bryan-Michael Cox written all over it, which is a good thing. i hope this is the single to properly launch her new record. i liked "Still Standing," but i think this one has more universal appeal, not unlike "Be Without You."
(and i love that post title, Butta.)
