Ursula Rucker Urges You To 'Resist' The Rhetoric & Vote

There's something to be said for a nation whose economic, political, and social future has hit such a crossroads as we find ourselves at right now. Not since the 1960s have tensions within this country run as high as they do now. I know that we here at SoulBounce have posted a plethora of artists urging you to vote on November 4th, and we even had to put one on blast for admitting he was not registered to vote at all, but the message below from Ursula Rucker is of a slightly different nature. As we too often see in Soul music and elsewhere, a person's worth is too often measured by the material. Ursula Rucker's take on urging people to vote focuses on our nation's ability to too often exclude those who do not have, in this case healthcare, for those who have a bit more. It's a powerful message and her words will stay with you long after it's over. Much thanks Five Six Media for the link

real talk, as always, from sister ursula rucker. what nikki giovanni meant to the '60s generation of brothers and sisters, ursula rucker is that for us. she is a force of nature.

We need to hear such commentary more often from our artists,
or we need to hear those artists who do comment more often?
Important, well said and great that you posted it.

Love this. I remember being up in Philly and stumbling on an outdoor festival where she was spitting. Felt like a blessing.

FYI DC urrea folx, Ursula will be at Bohemian Caverns on Wednesday for two shows.
