The More Official 'Notorious' Trailer Surfaces
For those of you (un)fortunate enough to actually sit through the BET Hip Hop Awards, you may have noticed the more official trailer for Notorious, the not really anticipated biopic chronicling Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace's life. After viewing the trailer, I will say this: it's not as cheap as I was expecting it to look. I will also, however, say the following:
- Angela Bassett who portrays Voletta Wallace, Biggie's mother, sans Jamaican accent deeply bothers me.
- The directing and acting is on par with Juice, complete with the baby momma and child scene of "this does not make you man."
- Derek Luke as Puffy doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
- Where the hell is Anthony Mackie as Tupac? I was wanting to see him thug it out.
In any case, the trailer is below. More critique will soon follow on 1/16/09 when Notorious officially comes to a cineplex near you. In the meantime, try to resist checking out the bootleg on a ghetto street corner near you.

miss concrete jungle | October 27, 2008 4:14 PM | PermalinkThe directing and acting is on par with Juice, complete with the baby momma and child scene of "this does not make you man." And no jamaican accent??? wow c'monnnn, who choice was that? it's not like angela couldn't have pulled it off, at least that's what i'd think..
miss concrete jungle | October 27, 2008 4:10 PM | PermalinkThis is gonna get a LOT of ghetto love, but some of the casting choices are definitely questionable.
And may I just say that Derek Luke is 100x sexier than Sean Combs could ever hope to be! Lawd lawd lawd!

nOvaMatic | October 27, 2008 3:33 AM | PermalinkI'm sitting here already wondering if they'll even dare play this at the Lincoln Center cinemas. *snicker*
Will | October 25, 2008 2:17 PM | PermalinkOkay, this trailer looks waaaaaaay better than the first. And I too agree, Angela should have tried to at least evoke a Jamaican accent. That's the one trait about Voletta Wallace that people recognize, and also the salt and pepper hair. Which I did not see on Angela.

Good lookin' because I would never have noticed that. A bald head and a sneer do not a good Tupac impression make.
ill Mami | October 24, 2008 7:15 PM | PermalinkMackie as Pac is in the trailer twice- @ 1:50 talking about "fake-ass friends" and at 2:09 hanging out of the Hummer talking about "set me up!". He has the characterization down, but you may not have noticed him because HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE PAC.
DELINQ | October 24, 2008 7:11 PM | PermalinkOkay, I'm actually excited to see this...
Bree | October 24, 2008 5:00 PM | Permalinka much better preview after the straight-to-DVD looking one!
