A Soulful Noise
Jennifer Hudson Is In Our Thoughts and Prayers
We tend to think we know Jennifer Hudson because we know her music, and her movie roles, her engagement news and what's up next on her professional plate. Because we know all of that, and maybe some interesting "tidbits" learned from "sources," we feel that we know everything about her. We feel that we know her pain threshold because we witnessed how well she carried herself after losing unceremoniously on American Idol, how she turned that momentary disappointment into triumph, eventually landing an Academy Award for her role in the film Dreamgirls. We feel we know of her ability to bounce back after watching her nail the character of
Effie White with aplomb, clawing her way back from despair on the big
screen, announcing defiantly that she wasn't going anywhere. We believed her. So we think we know.
Except, we don't.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Ms. Hudson told the
reporter that her "faith in God and my family, they're very realistic
and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing."
She also stated that when she goes home to her mom, she's "just
Jennifer," and that her mother wouldn't hesitate to let her know that
she had to get up and take care of her own stuff.
We don't know
of anything in the world that could come close to consoling the
27-year-old Chicago native as she deals with the murders of both her
mother and brother, Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson. There are no words that we could utter to help bring her nephew, Julian King,
back safely. The SoulBounce family isn't sure if Jennifer can overcome
this unimaginable tragedy, or whether she can get up from this and
continue to take care of her own stuff. We have no inside scoop on how
this will affect her going forward and what she's still destined to
accomplish. Nobody knows that. Hopefully, her faith and family will
help carry her past this. What's left is for us to keep her and her
family in our thoughts and prayers.
Please know that we will.

dar | October 26, 2008 2:47 PM | Permalinkamen. I am sick to my stomach over this. after my own father's death I am pretty numb to the whole "celebrity tragedy" news, but this hit me very hard. I dunno why. I guess cause I feel in some way jennifer is like everyone's favorite cousin. a sister. she's never come across as anything but spiritual and modest and family oriented. my heart is breaking for her and her family. this is really unimaginable.
huny | October 26, 2008 2:36 PM | PermalinkIt b-r-e-a-k-s my heart......I cannot imagine the pain Jennifer must feel....how excruciating and incapacitating it must be. She has to reach for the only person that can sustain her right now.....GOD!
My hope is that in time the pain will lessen and that the lesson in all this will become clearer.
