It's been a while since we've heard from Malice & Mario Sweet, the Seattle-based husband and wife singing duo whose sound is just as sweet as their love (and last name). After a six-year break, the duo is back to give us more of their soulful sounds with the release of their latest single "Overjoyed."
"Overjoyed" proves that their chemistry is just as beautiful as ever. The song keeps a slow, seductive pace thanks to a simple and steady drum rhythm on which warm piano chords and tinkling keys dance. Their vocals join the mix to further set the mood, with the two giving easy and subdued harmonies as they sing. "When I hear your voice / I get overjoyed," they sing in unison. "When I feel unsure / Your love feels the void / Yes, you do." The sweet sentiment is carried throughout the song as they continue to profess their love over the track. And though the production might suggest this as the soundtrack to a bedroom session, the lyrical content makes this one appropriate for almost any loving occasion you can think of.
