Amp Fiddler Taps Blue Lab Beats To Bring Their 'Energy' To This Remix

Detroit’s own Amp Fiddler kicked off 2022 by breathing new life into his single “Energy.” Though the tune was first released back in 2014 as part of his Basementality series and was only made available through Bandcamp, the series was reissued last fall on all digital streaming platforms. Now, the honorary P-Funk member has tapped GRAMMY-nominated London duo Blue Lab Beats for a fresh take on the track. The result is a full-bodied deviation from the original, capitalizing on the existing charm and allure of the lyrics. Armed with only the vocals, NK-OK and Mr. DM drew from their jazztronica roots and added more depth and a undeniable groove.

The fact that the original song was written eight years ago speaks to the boundless nature of true artistry. Amp explains, “Energy is all around us all the time. That’s what I love about the song, it’s timeless in that sense. I wrote it with Adrian Jefferson and Paul Hill, and it was one of those special tracks that came together so well, so naturally.” Though there are few things that actually benefit from a reboot, music is certainly one of them and, with a strong foundation, the possibilities are endless. He continues, “With such a limited release, I always felt it missed out on the love it deserved in 2014, and so I’m really excited to see how the buzz of these amazing remixes elevates the original.”
