Reva DeVito Keeps Things Afloat With Help From Yung Bae On 'Life Vest'

It's been five years since songstress Reva DeVito blessed us with her EP The Move. The singer has been pretty prolific during that time, collaborating with Umii and B. Bravo on the EP This Time and dropping numerous singles. Now she's teamed up with her Portland homeboy Yung Bae and returning to our pages with the release of her new single "Life Vest."

From the moment you press play, it's hard to deny that "Life Vest" is a jam. Yung Bae laces Reva with a jam that bounces quite nicely thanks to a constant and consistent kick drum that propels the rhythm and the listener to the dance floor. Reva's vocal, meanwhile, floats like the titular life vest as she delivers a message on the strength of friendship and familial love in troubling times. "And oh / It's a short life and you've got to live," she sings on the catchy chorus. "And you know oh / Hold on for dear life ya / We just have each other."

"'Life Vest' is an ode to our family and friends, our support systems! We can swim sure, but there are moments in these emotional waves where we’d rather have our metaphorical life vests," the singer said of the song's meaning in a press release.
