Jennifer Hudson Takes Us To Church In 'Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)' & Releases 'RESPECT' Soundtrack

The long wait for RESPECT, the highly anticipated Aretha Franklin biopic starring Jennifer Hudson, finally ended when the film arrived in theaters this past Friday. Along with it came the film's motion picture soundtrack, which found Hudson taking on the legend's iconic material. The soundtrack did allow for one original song, the gospel-tinged "Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)," and the singer has released a video for the track to mark the film's release.

The song already had a church-y feel, so it's only right that Jennifer literally takes us to church for the clip. We join her on a journey in black and white as she delivers the song while walking and riding the streets of LA. Eventually, we see the white-clad singer approach The New Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Fans of Aretha will instantly recognize the church as where the legend recorded her dynamic Amazing Grace album in 1972. The significance isn't missed in the video, as Jennifer also takes command of the iconic spot, though she does it mostly alone (save for an audience of a couple of young girls). As JHud belts the notes to the rafters, we're treated to clips from the film interspersed throughout, breaking up the black-and-white visual with a bit of color.

You can watch the quietly powerful "Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)" right here. Then stick around to hear Jennifer Hudson take on the Queen of Soul with a stream of the RESPECT soundtrack below.
