Amorphous Teams With Kehlani For His Debut Single 'Back Together'

Amorphous made a pretty big name for himself online with his inventive mashups of well-known jams. So much so that celebs came calling to work with him. His most notable work to date has been linking with Fat Joe for the Rihanna and Luther Vandross-sampling "Sunshine." With that big of a push, the producer is now setting his sights on his own solo success, kicking off his solo career by linking with Kehlani for his debut single "Back Together."

"Back Together" has a bouncy, airy groove with a shuffling drum track that's ideal for the season. It's the perfect kind of groove for the R&B songstress to lend her voice while keeping the vibes light. She includes that lightness on the verse and chorus as she lets a lover know that she has no intentions of rekindling their flame. That message may seem harsh, but there's no love lost here. "Need you to know we ain't gettin' back together / But that doesn't mean that we can't come together / I find it way better somewhere in the middle / 'Cause I love who we are when we ain't back together," she sings on the chorus. The situation is definitely an interesting space to be in with an ex, but if it works, it works!

Amorphous is still hard at work on his debut album, which is rumored to be coming sometime this summer. So far, he's logged studio time with a few recognizable names — including singer-songwriters Victoria MonétSarah Hudson and Justin Tranter. We can't wait to see what he's cooked up and who else is on his list. Until we do, you can get into Amorphous and Kehlani giving us spring/summer vibes on "Back Together" when you press play.
