It looks like the Isleys weren't done with us, though, as they kept the tradition of new music following a VERZUZ event going with the release of their newest single "Friends & Family."
If the name didn't put you on, this new joint is family (and family reunion) friendly thanks to an undeniable two-step groove. It bounces and floats on like a summer breeze thanks to Ernie Isley's slick guitar licks, strings and a bubbly drum track that keeps the groove going. Then, of course, there's the special sauce of Ronald Isley. He graces the track with his one-of-a-kind falsetto and makes the entire song sing. Also helping things move along is Snoop Dogg, who adds a laid-back verse to the mix that reminds us of backyard cookouts and good times.
The crew also captures family reunion vibes with a cameo-filled music video. We're invited into a family affair full of good food, good music and good vibes as The Isley Brothers serenade us. While the clip has a lot of smiling faces — including LisaRaye, Kym Whitley, Sherri Shepherd, Syleena Johnson and Snoop — they keep things COVID safe by inviting the friends via video chat as they share smiles and libations. It all just feels like a good time and has us ready for a summer when we can gather with our own friends and family (after being fully vaccinated, of course).
