Back in January, Gallant returned to the scene with the single “Comeback.” and the announcement that he had an EP entitled Neptune on the way on his own label. He wasted no time in dropping the second single “Relapse.” in February with the word that the project would be dropping in March. Sure enough, Gallant stays true to his word, and Neptune is scheduled for release on Friday, March 26th. Not only do we finally have a release date, but Gallant has also revealed the cover art, tracklist and featured artists who’ll be joining him.
In mythology, Neptune is known as the Roman god of freshwater and the sea. Gallant keeps that same energy for the Neptune cover artwork, that depicts him in a puffy white coat against rippling blue waters. For the back cover, however, Gallant is seen falling against a black background toward the planet Neptune. The artwork is intriguing, but it’s the tracklist that reveals a trio of guests that has us open.
Neptune will feature eight songs in total, bookended by the first two singles. Sandwiched in between those two tracks, Gallant snags Brandy to join him on the song “Dynamite.,” gets fellow R&B crooner Arin Ray on the track “Third Eye Blind.” and taps the sisters of VanJess for “No More Tries.”
If we weren’t already excited to hear Neptune before (we were!), we surely are now. Gallant is showing out on this independent release, and we’re here for it. Neptune is available for pre-order and pre-save from your choice of digital music services now.
