Mary J. Blige and Kanye West just delivered your next "f**k everybody" anthem with their collabo "Love Yourself." On the song, the duo encourages listeners to take care of self after heartbreak and hard times. The single, which starts with Mary singing over a slow blend of keys, quickly transitions into a banger at the one-minute mark. Infectious horns announce the tempo switch, which then launches the track into a percussion-heavy celebration. "Oh, you gotta love yourself / If you really wanna be with someone else / You gotta feed yourself / Before you feed somebody else," she sings in the chorus. Message!
Yeezy joins Mary mid-track, dropping a verse about the African-American community and his goal to make a difference. "I decided not to use my color as a handicap / He a designer, artist, producer and he rap / Never found virtue from patience / In a dark room just pacin' / Precious time is just wastin' / You do not know what we facin' / I cannot be complacent," he raps. Mary closes the track reminding listeners to love themselves to get through the valley and the infectious beat forces you to take another listen.
