SZA Teases New Album In Mini-Doc 'Road To CTRL'

On Friday, February 3rd, we were supposed to get the extra special treat of the debut album from SZA, CTRL. However, that day came and went with not so much as a peep from the TDE artist about her first project since her 2014 EP, Z. But, while SZA didn’t quite drop the album we’ve been expecting for something like forever, she is giving us a little hope with the release of a teaser trailer for the project, the aptly titled mini-documentary, WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN: road to CTRL.

In the three-minute mini-doc, SZA previews a few tracks on the upcoming album, while we watch scenes of her on the road, at a skating rink, celebrating her birthday at home, on vacation trying desperately not to drop a coconut, and, of course, in the studio working on music.

But in the midst of this film project, has SZA actually given us a solid release date for CTRL? No, no, no, my friends. That would be too much like right. Instead, she’s given us a riddle wrapped in a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The artist launched an interactive site where fans can try to decipher when the album is dropping. We ain’t got the time today, but let us know if you figure it out or see it on someone’s message board. In the meantime, we’ll continue listening to the first single “Drew Barrymore” and watch this charming video of SZA getting it together for the fans.
