When Jazmine Sullivan stepped away from the music industry a few years back, there was a visible gap left in the R&B world. It was unclear when the vocalist, who is often noted as being one of the greats of this era, would return, if at all. Thankfully, she made her triumphant return with Reality Show earlier this year and served up a healthy dose of unapologetically honest, raw lyrics and emotive vocals with a gritty twist that we here at SoulBounce and her fans all over the world were in dire need of.
In support of Reality Show, Jazmine Sullivan toured the U.S in March and April this year, and soon she’ll be heading down to Australia and New Zealand for Soulfest. The festival kicked off with a huge lineup for its debut last year with D’Angelo, Maxwell and Common gracing the stage and this year’s edition will see Sullivan joining the likes of Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Kamasi Washington, Jill Scott, Floetry, De La Soul, Charlie Wilson and more in what is set to be a day of soulful music that is not to be missed. With 2015 shaping up to be a huge year for the eight-time GRAMMY nominee, SoulBounce had a chat with Sullivan to talk about how her reality shaped Reality Show and what she’ll deliver when she hits Down Under.
