When Daft Punk tapped into the talent of Nile Rodgers in 2013 with their hit "Get Lucky," we couldn't help but wonder if that meant that Nile and his seminal group CHIC would find their way back to our music libraries with their unique sound. Then came news from Nile himself that some new CHIC music could be coming our way soon.
Things have gotten even more real now, though, with the announcement that Nile and CHIC have inked a new record deal with Warner Bros. Records. Commenting on the deal, Warner Bros. Records Chairman and CEO Cameron Strang said, "Nile has never stopped moving forward, so I am thrilled to welcome him into the WBR family as he begins a dynamic new chapter of his extraordinary career."
In addition to the news about the record deal, it was also revealed that we'd be getting a new CHIC album sooner rather than later. How soon? A new single from the group is expected to arrive on March 20th, with an album following soon after in June. With their hit song "Le Freak" joining the GRAMMY Hall of Fame this year and new music coming very soon, we think it's safe to say that these are most certainly good times for CHIC fans.
