Earlier this year, Bounce-Worthy artist Summer Williams released Call Me The Soulstress. The six-track EP is her first collection of new music since her ‘90’s hip-hop jamfest of a mixtape, Boom Bap Soul, Vol. 1.

Not content to rest on her laurels, the New York-based hip-hop soulstress has hinted that she’s currently working on another major release of new material. To prove it, she recently gave us a teaser by way of her latest single, “Can’t Let You Go.” The song is more ‘80’s R&B (tell me the instrumentals don’t remind you of Luther Vandross' “Don’t You Know That?”) than ‘90’s hip-hop, which may cause some fans to wonder if she’s slowly moving away from the “boom bap” to focus on the “soul.” Genre classification aside, this ode to on-again/off-again romance is quite infectious and worthy of multiple listens. Whichever musical path Williams decides to take, we’ll happily go along for the ride.

Get your Summer groove on below, then afterwards check out the video of Williams and her band to see how the magic unfolds. We can’t wait to hear what else they’ve been working on. In the meantime, be sure to grab your download of Call Me The Soulstress from Bandcamp while it’s still free99.
