It’s not every day that the ESSENCE Festival turns 20 years old. Needless to say, they are doing it BIG in honor of the momentous occasion. The self-proclaimed “Party With A Purpose” has already announced such big name acts as Prince, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Lionel Richie and Charlie Wilson taking over the main stage. Now the annual festival, which takes place July 3rd to July 6th in New Orleans, just got even bigger. ESSENCE just added Nas, Trey Songz, K. Michelle and Jazmine Sullivan to the star-studded lineup. The new additions will perform as part of the NOWPLAYING Concert, set to take place on the festival’s opening night. Only floor seats are available for the show, but tickets prices will start at only $40 for the special event.
Other acts set to help ESSENCE Festival ring in its 20th anniversary include Tamar Braxton, The Roots, Elle Varner, Robert Glasper, Raheem DeVaughn and a slew of many more. To check out the full lineup and festival schedule or to purchase tickets, be sure to head over to ESSENCE Festival’s website for more info. Trust us, New Orleans will be the place to be this July 4th weekend.
