Candice Anitra Calls On A 'Big Tree' For Help, And Returns The Favor

I admit I kind of slept on Candice Anitra's Big Tree album, despite loving everything I heard on her debut, Bark Then Bite. That should all change now that her latest video for the album's title track has been released, as it's hard not to sit up and take notice once you press play. The kooky video kicks off with Candice serving a number of difficult characters at a yard sale, but when things all get a bit much she takes herself off to Prospect Park to relax amongst the trees. That's where things start to get a little trippy as said trees come to life and help her fight off a host of bad guys. According to Candice and video director Jessica Rotondi, the video is "a tribute to the resilience of trees as a metaphor for the human spirit." Which ties in well with the purpose behind the song's video, as it is being released in partnership with Million Trees NYC, a program aiming to plant and care for one million new trees across NYC's five boroughs over the next decade. In the wake of the devastating Hurricane Sandy they have also launched their TreeLC initiative encouraging the public to provide much needed tree care. You can find out more about the program's aims and objectives via their official website.
