Last week the immensely talented Robert Glasper rode into London town for a live date at the prestigious Barbican. Accompanied by fellow Experiment members Derrick Hodge (bass guitar), Mark Colenburg (drums) and Casey Benjamin (vocoder), as well as special guests Bilal and Lalah Hathaway, by all accounts it was a night not to be missed. Robert and the band performed material from Black Radio intermingled with covers of John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock amongst others, much of which -- thankfully -- was caught on camera by the enraptured audience. I couldn't make the show myself, but after sifting through YouTube I had to share this stunning performance of "Cherish The Day," featuring the awe-inspiring vocals of Lalah Hathaway. The studio version of this song is my favorite cut on Black Radio, but hearing it performed live takes it to a whole new level. Clear the next eight-and-a-half minutes in your schedule and prepare to be blown away.
