With a song as kick-ass and infectious as Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “Ni—s In Paris,” it was inevitable for it to be covered, remixed, and sampled by everyone and their grandpa. And with damn good reason. Producer Hit Boy went HAM on the track, and The Throne‘s random lyrics here are some of the most quoted this year. Plus, as anyone who attended the Watch the Throne Tour that wrapped its run last night can attest, the multiple encores of this song are one of the many highlights of the show. Everybody has “Ni—s In Paris” fever, and the latest artists to catch it are Robin Thicke and Timbaland who’ve both put their own spins on the song. Thicke totally flipped it in this video recorded of him in concert in Los Angeles at the Key Club last week, turning it into a sexed up, bodyroll-ready slow jam of sorts. He sings “don’t let me into my zone” repeatedly so sweetly that I need him to put this on wax ASAPossibly.
Timbo on the other hand didn’t take too many liberties with Jigga and Ye’s original when he was a guest at the Passion nightclub at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. As a DJ played the record, Tim beatboxed and freestyled making a live remix on the spot. That sh– cray for real.
Props to Rap-Up for bringing these to our attention.
