Basement Jaxx vs. Metropole Orkest: Dance Goes Orchestral

Basement Jaxx, the duo comprising Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, are responsible for crafting some of the catchiest dance music to come out of the UK in the last decade, both in terms of their own material and remixes for the likes of Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, and N.E.R.D. After releasing six studio albums and numerous EPs they have decided to give some of their existing material a different spin with a little help from Metropole Orkest, an orchestra hailing from the Netherlands. The new album, Basement Jaxx vs. Metropole Orkest, will include versions of hits such as "Where's Your Head At," "Hush Boy," and "Red Alert" backed by a 60-piece orchestra, 20-voice choir, and vocalists including Vula Malinga and Sharlene Hector. Below you can see some of the video footage from the concert that formed the basis of the project, and if you are lucky enough to be in London on July 14th/15th you can catch them in performance at the Barbican Centre (details/tickets). The album will be released on July 11th.
